what becomes of echoes?
at the airport,
people troop in, out--
a procession of life
in clothes and strides.
there are TVs, too,
displaying the many wounds of the world
of course, none displays the world of the man
sitting there in a thick fog of sorrow
his face is a cracking earth struggling to not fall apart
his hands clasp each other
in what looks like a call to the god of strength
when the plane lands,
it is with a cargo holding
the remains of his daughter
they roll her body out of the airplane
and slowly, he goes over to look at her
when his howl rips the air apart,
i suddenly know what becomes of echoes
